CODE VII MUSIC

Code VII was recently tagged on the above YouTube. To our surprise, it turned out to be a computer-generated “podcast excerpt” created with Artificial Intelligence. No human author has made themselves known yet, which left us wondering – did the AI itself choose the track? or was it a human behind a computer, who already knew of Code VII, curious what AI would come up with ? After clicking around for a few minutes, I’m still not sure.

“Joke to Me” is a song layered with double and triple meanings. I had to ask Code VII to tell me the meanings behind most of the jokes, which reference literary, pop culture, and internet humor from today as well as decades past. I wonder if an AI, limited as they are by their learnings and especially limited around humor, would be able to figure out this stuff ‘on it’s own’ and get the jokes! Fascinating stuff.

The voices sound like those of a real pair of humans (man and woman, speaking English in the style of the USA), except they don’t introduce themselves or call each other by name at any point. Regardless of how the song was selected to be the subject of this AI review, there is also the mindfuck of how this was accomplished! There is no plain-audio version of “Joke to Me” available on any of the music platforms yet, nor have we published the full lyrics anywhere. The track Joke to Me is exclusively hearable as a music video on YouTube. UTU’s YT account started about 2 months ago and already has 98 videos up. (wow) The Joke to Me AI review audio is over 12 minutes long, while the track itself is around 3 minutes. The computer has apparently “read” or processed the entire lyrics because it keeps commenting on the humorous elements of the lyrics and appears to interpret Code VII’s words specifically throughout. However, I do not yet know if it has/had a visual cortex function, as the visuals on the video are … very unique and extremely silly. The lack of commentary on the visuals leads me to guess this is an audio-only interface at this moment. But it can’t be far off, when AI can watch a video like a human would, and interpret it accordingly. Wow. I played the music video with the subtitles on , as provided automatically by YT, and learned it’s accurately captioning over 90% of the lyrics! Although the spelling is sometimes off with the double entendres 😉 Also it doesn’t caption expletives but gives a (_____) symbol.

I am both excited and happy about this AI review vid, and a bit freaked out by how fully human-like it seems. Kudos to the creator(s) UTU, thanks for featuring Code VII on your channel!! and please connect if you’d like to collaborate more in the future!

p.s. When I went back to the review comments to link to this, I found they’d been disabled. But prior to that, several folks had left positive comments including the artist’s mom. We all felt it was a great review, and my own initial response when I learned it was AI was : “This thing is way smarter than me!” 🙂
